In these early site-specific works I was interested in the viewer's experiential reading of space and was guided by my research into phenomenology. Each installation in this series sought to reconfigure the gallery in ways that would unsettle the viewer by challenging their preconceptions.
Often at first the gallery appeared to be empty. Large structures hovered at the edge of consciousness or were seamlessly incorporated into the existing architecture. Sometimes the whole interior of the gallery was reconstructed in the manner of a stage set.
